ADI REGISTRATION

An ADI is an Approved Driving Instructor. By law, anyone providing driving instruction for reward (payment) must be approved by the DVSA.
To become an ADI, an instructor must undergo very specific training and pass 3 separate tests to ensure they have reached a high standard of competence.

It is fine to get your parents or family friend to give you tuition for free and to compliment your training with an ADI, but please be careful if you are asked for money from someone who is not approved by the DVSA. They are breaking the law and should be reported.

I am a fully qualified ADI and you can be assured of this by finding me on the government (DVSA) website CLICK HERE, or by viewing my registration which I display in my front windscreen at all times.

You can find out if a driving instructor is a qualified ADI by looking for their badge in their windscreen - it will be either a pink triangle (PDI - an instructor who has not yet taken the final test), or a green octagonal badge (Fully Qualified ADI) and the badge displayed should have a photograph of the instructor, a reference number and an expiry date. Or you can visit the government website - CLICK HERE. If you can't find your instructor, don't panic - they may have asked not to be published on the website, so you may need to call the DVSA to get confirmation.:
